IFA Secures Unprecedented Move for Five Players to Professional Clubs

The Inter FA Professional Football Development Centre has followed up its superb week with an unprecedented further five players joining professional clubs in England and Scotland.

The five players; Jordan Macquarie currently training with the 1st team at Carlisle United FC, Yannis Veranakis on trial with Carlisle United FC scholars, Stuart McDonald on loan to Workington FC, Thomas Farrell and Joe Murphy due to play for Accrington Stanley FC reserves against Burnley FC reserves at Turf Moor next week. All five players secured trials with professional clubs following recieving scholarships to the Academy Professional Football Development Centre and superb performances against the professional clubs, each with options for the future as they aim to bolster the squads and help the clubs secure their status.

Released from their clubs in seasons 2008 and 2009, all five players came through hard fought trials to secure places at the academy and were successfully offered scholarships to the professional football development programme.

There is considerable club interest in members of the IFA squad, in England, Spain, Germany and further afield and with such a large proportion of players back in the game already, and the promise of further trials at European clubs, the work being undertaken by the IFA team, really is making a difference to players who would otherwise be lost to the game.
